CALAX project set for completion as scheduled

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is on track to complete the Cavite Laguna Expressway (CALAX) project by the third quarter of 2025, with significant progress made on key sections. At present, Subsection 3, including the Governor’s Drive Interchange, is 44 percent complete, contributing to an overall 68 percent completion rate of the 44.58-kilometer expressway. Once fully operational, Subsection 3 will become the longest stretch of CALAX, connecting to the Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange.

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan confirmed that road right-of-way (RROW) acquisition for the Laguna segment is complete, and efforts are underway to fast-track acquisition for the Cavite segment, which is already 90.71 percent completed. A total of 17.4 kilometers of the expressway, including four interchanges and one toll barrier, is fully operational.

MPCALA Holdings, as project concessionaire, remains committed to completing the expressway by 2025. Once finished, CALAX will span 45 kilometers and connect Cavite, Laguna, and Metro Manila, integrating with major expressways and facilitating smoother travel. With an expected daily capacity of 95,000 vehicles, CALAX will not only improve travel times but also stimulate regional economic growth.
