PBBM orders united effort for safe, smooth Holy Week travel

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., more publicly known under the initials PBBM, has issued a clear directive for all government agencies to coordinate efforts in ensuring the safety and convenience of travelers during the Holy Week, transport secretary Vince Dizon said.

“The President gave strict directives for all agencies of government to work together and find solutions for passengers,” Dizon said. “He said, let’s make the travel experience of our passengers convenient and safe.”

In line with this call, Dizon conducted a dawn inspection at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 and noted the improved flow of passengers compared to previous weeks. He credited this progress to the close collaboration among the Bureau of Immigration, Manila International Airport Authority, and New NAIA Infra Corp.

“This is proof that when we work together, we can make things happen for the better,” Dizon said.

Beyond airports, government agencies are also ramping up coordination at seaports. A recently signed Joint Memorandum Circular between the Department of Transportation, Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) focuses on enforcing strict anti-overloading policies during sea travel.

Under the directive, PPA will oversee efficient seaport operations, the PCG will strictly implement vessel weight limits based on passengers and vehicles onboard, and MARINA will penalize shipping companies found in violation.

The President’s directive underscores a nationwide push for safe, orderly travel during one of the country’s busiest periods.
