Pangasinan Solid North Transit under 30-day suspension following fatal crash

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has suspended the operations of Pangasinan Solid North Transit, Inc. (PSNTI) for 30 days following a fatal crash involving one of its buses on the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway on the first of May this year.

In compliance with the directive, PSNTI confirmed it has halted all its services, effectively freezing the company’s entire fleet. “All trips of PSNTI are temporarily suspended,” the operator announced, adding that affected passengers may request booking cancellations.

The regulatory freeze was ordered by Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon who also directed the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to pursue criminal charges against both the driver and the bus company. The DOTr chief also mandated a review of existing road safety protocols and emphasized stricter screening of driver fitness across the transport sector.

PSNTI, acknowledging its accountability, expressed condolences to victims and described the incident as an “isolated case” stemming from “uncontrollable factors.”

The suspension not only grounds PSNTI’s revenue-generating operations but also raises broader concerns for corporate liability and regulatory oversight in the commercial transport industry.
