New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) president Ramon S. Ang has extended immediate support to the victims of the vehicular accident that took place earlier today at the departure level of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1, committing to shoulder medical expenses and provide financial assistance to the affected families.
In a statement, Ang described the incident as “very tragic” and assured the public that the welfare of the victims remains the top priority. “Our priority now is to make sure the victims and their families receive the support and care they need,” he said.
Four individuals sustained injuries in the crash and are currently receiving treatment, while two others died in the incident. Ang confirmed he will personally cover all medical costs for those injured and extend financial help to the bereaved families.
Initial reports from the scene indicate that an SUV, initially parked near the terminal entrance, suddenly accelerated and rammed through the outer railing, crashing into the pedestrian walkway. The driver is in police custody as investigations continue.
NNIC is working closely with the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) Security team, and other authorities as part of the ongoing response and investigation. Access to the affected area has been restricted to authorized personnel.
The company issued a public appeal urging restraint from speculation amid the circulation of images on social media. “We urge the public not to speculate and to wait for verified updates, which will be issued as soon as they become available,” NNIC stated.
NNIC expressed its deepest sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a full and swift recovery to the injured.
