The Philippines underscored its commitment to innovation-driven agriculture at InnoVEX 2025, Asia’s premier startup platform, with the Department of Agriculture–Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (DA-AMAS) leading a delegation that spotlighted youth-led, high-tech agri ventures. Held from 20 to 23 May at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, the event aligned closely with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision to modernize agriculture through technology and global exposure.
Central to the Philippines’ presence were the winners of the Young Farmers Challenge (YFC)—a DA initiative supporting nearly 4,000 youth-led agribusinesses. Notable innovations included AI-powered egg incubators, smart brooder systems, and a precision farming digital platform, introduced by startup founders Arvin John Tejeros, Chester Turingan, and John Carlo Landayan, respectively.
DA assistant secretary Genevieve Guevarra said that sustained investment in young innovators is transforming the country’s food systems. “From capital grants to global promotion, we’re backing Filipino agri-tech startups driving real change,” she said.
The Philippine delegation participation was widely praised by trade leaders. MECO chairperson Cheloy E. Velicaria Garafil described the Taiwan engagement as “a game-changer,” while PTIC Taipei’s Anthony B. Rivera called it a “strategic move” to boost innovation-led trade and job creation.
The effort marks a significant policy step toward digital agriculture, sustainability, and international collaboration—crucial pillars for ensuring national food security and a future-ready economy.
