Clark and Collier Named Captains for 2025 WNBA All-Star Game

Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark, the reigning Rookie of the Year and a 2024 All-WNBA First Team honoree, and Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa Collier, the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year and MVP runner-up, have been named team captains for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game. The selection comes following the conclusion of fan voting for this year’s event, which will take place on July 20 (Manila) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Clark’s home arena.

Clark and Collier received the highest number of fan votes among all All-Star starters, earning them the captaincies. Clark led all vote-getters with 1,293,526 votes, while Collier followed closely with 1,176,020. Clark is averaging 18.2 points and a personal-best 8.9 assists per game this season. Collier leads the league in scoring at 24.5 points per game, a career high, and is currently fourth in rebounds with 8.4 per contest, helping the Lynx secure a league-best 13-2 record.

The other eight players selected as All-Star starters will be revealed tomorrow. Starter selections were made without regard to conference. Voting was split among fans (50%), current players (25%), and media members (25%). Player selections were ranked by position—guards and frontcourt—in each of the three voting categories. An average of those rankings determined each player’s overall score. The top four guards and six frontcourt players with the best average scores were named as starters. In the case of a tie, fan votes served as the deciding factor.

Following the announcement of starters, WNBA head coaches will choose 12 reserves. These picks, also not tied to conference, will include three guards, five frontcourt players, and four additional players of any position. Coaches are prohibited from voting for their own team members. The reserve list will be unveiled July 6 via the league’s digital and social platforms.

Clark and Collier will then pick their teams during an All-Star Draft, first selecting from the remaining starters, followed by the 12 reserves. The results of the draft will be broadcast on July 8.

The All-Star Game coaches will be the two leading team coaches by win-loss record through July 4. The coach with the best record will lead the team of the captain who secured the most fan votes.

The All-Star weekend will span three days and feature several fan-friendly events, including the 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge.
