McDonald’s Philippines has opened its 800th store at the Davao Global Township (DGT), a rising central business district in Davao City. The new branch, which began operations in June, underscores the brand’s continued expansion and its deepening commitment to local communities.
This coincides with the renewal of a 20-year master franchise agreement granted by McDonald’s Corp. (Chicago, IL) to Dr. George T. Yang, chairman and founder, and Kenneth S. Yang, president and CEO of Golden Arches Development Corp. (GADC). The agreement extends the Yang family’s leadership of McDonald’s Philippines through 2045.
“The opening of our 800th store is a reflection of our stewardship of the business and our commitment to growth,” said Kenneth S. Yang, who led the store’s unveiling. “We look forward to bringing more feel-good moments to more Filipinos.”
Located in Matina Galleria along Gen. Douglas MacArthur Highway, the 179-seater restaurant is the first in Davao City to feature McDonald’s Bike & Dine and the 22nd branch in the city overall. It offers 24/7 service through dine-in, take-out, ride-thru, and McDelivery channels, along with a party area for celebrations.
The DGT branch also marks McDonald’s Philippines’ 8th Green & Good flagship store, built with sustainability features such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting, motion-sensor lighting, and energy-efficient systems. In support of active mobility, the store includes bike-friendly amenities.
Commercially significant for the region, the new store generated employment for nearly 100 Davao-based residents. Across the country, McDonald’s Philippines now employs over 65,000 people, approximately 70 percent of whom are working students.
As part of its grand opening, McDonald’s donated 800 meals to the communities of Barangay Matina Aplaya and the Badjao Community through its Kindness Kitchen initiative. A special store marker honoring Kenneth S. Yang’s leadership was also unveiled during the event.
