DENR cited for Model Climate Governance in Asia-Pacific

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has earned the Stakeholder Engagement of the Year for the Environment award at the GovMedia Conference & Awards 2025 for its flagship initiative, Project TRANSFORM.

Recognized at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore, Project TRANSFORM — short for Transdisciplinary Approach for Resilience and Environmental Sustainability through Multi-Stakeholder Engagement — was praised for its science-based, community-driven approach to strengthening climate resilience.

DENR undersecretary and project lead Marilou Erni accepted the award on June 19, crediting the collaborative efforts of partners across sectors, including government agencies, private corporations, civil society, and local communities. “Resilience begins with partnership, thrives through science, and grows through community action,” Erni said.

Launched in 2023, Project TRANSFORM aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s push for a whole-of-society approach to disaster and climate resilience. With initiatives active across six provinces and 24 LGUs nationwide, the program has become a model for institutionalizing sustainable, inclusive climate action at the local level.

This latest recognition follows Project TRANSFORM’s earlier win at the 60th Anvil Awards in the Philippines and reinforces DENR’s role in leading impactful, cross-sector environmental governance across the Asia-Pacific region.
