Converge seeks fair rules under Konektadong Pinoy Law

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is calling on the government to establish clear and enforceable rules to ensure fair competition among telecommunications companies following the enactment of the Konektadong Pinoy bill, which recently lapsed into law.

Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge CEO and co-founder, expressed support for the law’s goals of expanding connectivity and increasing competition but emphasized the urgent need for strong implementing rules and Regulations (IRR).

“Competition gives people real choice. But we need proper regulation to ensure everyone plays fair and consumers don’t suffer from substandard services,” Uy said.

Uy highlighted the importance of regulatory standards and cybersecurity as key focus areas, warning against poorly capitalized, fly-by-night operators. He stressed that all players must meet clear service standards and have the necessary manpower and infrastructure to protect consumer interests.

Drawing from his experience as a former Special Envoy to South Korea for digital transformation, Uy urged Philippine regulators to be given more authority to enforce compliance and hold telecom executives accountable.

Converge pledged to collaborate closely with the government and industry stakeholders to ensure the Konektadong Pinoy law benefits Filipino consumers and delivers on its promise of more affordable, reliable internet nationwide.
