DOTR launches modern PUV stops in Marikina

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has inaugurated two modern Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Stops in Marikina City, aimed at enhancing commuter safety and accessibility.

Located at Concepcion Elementary School and San Roque Park, the new facilities prioritize the needs of persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, pregnant passengers, and cyclists.

Funded by the DOTr, the project aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to make daily travel more comfortable and commuter-friendly. Each stop features designated seating for priority passengers, CCTV cameras, solar-powered lighting, charging stations, concrete bollards, tactile paving for the visually impaired, and bike repair stations.

“This will be our template for PUV terminals because the President’s order is to make the journey of our commuters safe and comfortable,” said Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

The stops also include bike map panels and end-of-trip cycling facilities to support sustainable and active transport. Lopez reminded the public to responsibly use the repair tools provided for cyclists.
