Marcos leads launch, inspection of infrastructure in Ilocos

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., along with Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon, visited Cagayan on Tuesday to inaugurate and inspect major infrastructure projects aimed at improving traffic mobility, flood control, and irrigation in the region.

The President led the formal opening of the Union Water Impounding Dam in Claveria, a joint project of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and DPWH. The dam is designed to mitigate flooding and provide irrigation to 1,050 hectares of farmland. Secretary Dizon described the project as a model for future flood control and irrigation initiatives nationwide.

Marcos also inspected the ongoing construction of the 1.58-kilometer Calamaniugan Bridge, which will span the Cagayan River and connect the towns of Calamaniugan and Aparri. Dizon said the bridge will significantly boost regional mobility and trade, in line with the President’s directive to improve transportation and economic activity in the Cagayan Region.
