GSIS reports P1.92T assets, dismisses mismanagement claims

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has issued a statement defending the integrity of its governance and the performance of its leadership, reaffirming its core fiduciary duty to deliver value and security to its 1.7 million members.

Responding to criticism over its investment strategy and internal governance, the state pension fund stressed that its decisions are grounded in professional, data-driven management and are made strictly within the legal and procedural framework of Republic Act No. 8291.

“The true measure of our stewardship lies not in anonymous allegations or personality-driven narratives, but in objective, verifiable performance,” the GSIS said, pointing to solid financial results as evidence of its sound management.

As of August 2025, the GSIS reported total assets of ₱1.92 trillion, marking substantial growth and underscoring its strong financial position. Net income stood at ₱100.02 billion, exceeding the period’s budget by 51 percent and surpassing last year’s performance. Total income reached ₱231.06 billion, driven by strong premium collections and investment earnings. Meanwhile, the fund life remains extended to 2058, a sign of long-term sustainability.

GSIS credited these results to its disciplined, stability-focused investment strategy and expert asset management. The agency also defended its current leadership, noting that president and general manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso, who was previously placed under preventive suspension, has resumed his duties to ensure continuity in governance.

While expressing respect for ongoing legal proceedings, GSIS maintained that its attention remains squarely on its mandate. “Our mandate is to our members. Our guide is verifiable data. Our mission is to secure their future,” it said.

The agency concluded by reaffirming its commitment to prudent fund management and the long-term welfare of its members, saying it remains focused and undeterred.
