D.M. Consunji Inc. (DMCI), the construction unit of DMCI Holdings Inc., plans to bid for the construction of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) complex in New Clark City, a major government project estimated to cost about P40 billion.
The project is commercially significant for DMCI because bidding will be limited to Philippine companies due to national security requirements, effectively excluding foreign contractors. This narrows competition and gives large local builders like DMCI a stronger chance of securing one of the biggest public-sector construction contracts in recent years. DMCI said it will participate through a consortium.
The planned BSP complex will be built on a 31.3-hectare site in Capas, Tarlac, and will house key central bank functions, including currency printing and minting facilities currently located in Quezon City. The move is expected to modernize BSP operations and support its shift toward digitalization and stronger cybersecurity.
Beyond its value to DMCI, the project is expected to generate wider economic benefits. Construction is likely to create jobs, stimulate demand for local suppliers, and contribute to the development of New Clark City as a major government and business hub. Once completed, the complex is also expected to strengthen the country’s financial infrastructure, support a more cash-lite economy, and promote regional development outside Metro Manila.
Separately, DMCI said it continues to hold talks with various government agencies on other infrastructure projects, including roads, transport, housing, and railways. These discussions point to a steady pipeline of public-sector projects, which could further support the construction industry and improve transport, housing viability, and traffic decongestion in the coming years.
