Dizon prioritizes job order workers in DPWH hiring

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will fill nearly 2,000 vacancies across the country, following a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to open advancement opportunities for staff-level and job order employees.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon emphasized that priority will be given to current DPWH personnel, including job order workers. “Just because you’ve been a JO for a long time doesn’t mean you don’t have the right to rise,” he said.

Dizon also announced the revival of the DPWH Cadet Engineering Program, originally launched in 2013 under former Secretary Rogelio Singson. The program aims to bring in young and newly licensed engineers to support nationwide infrastructure repair and development.

Meanwhile, Dizon appointed Lara Esquibil as Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary for Convergence and Technical Services, replacing Arrey Perez, who stepped down amid allegations of meeting with contractors. Esquibil previously led the DPWH Bureau of Design and is an alumna of the Cadet Engineering Program.
