Local renewable energy firm NexGen Energy Corp., through its unit 5hour Peak Energy Corp., has secured a certificate of authority (COA) from the Department of Energy to pursue a floating solar power project in Caliraya Lake, Laguna.
The COA grants the company exclusive rights to conduct pre-feasibility studies and secure permits for the planned development. NexGen did not disclose details on project capacity or investment.
Earlier this year, NexGen raised its stake in subsidiary Solar Powered Agri-rural Communities Corp. (SPARC) to 95.56% to support expansion efforts. SPARC currently operates solar farms in Bulacan, Zambales, and Bataan, and is set to add an 8–10 MW facility in Palauig, Zambales.
NexGen, a subsidiary of Pure Energy Holdings Corp., is pursuing over 1,500 MW of solar and wind projects nationwide, including renewable power support for Pure Energy’s agriculture-focused ventures.
