GCash has partnered with CARD Indogrosir—a hybrid retail and wholesale chain—to introduce its new SoundPay devices across the chain’s network.
SoundPay uses a small device that emits a unique audio signal to confirm successful digital payments instantly, allowing merchants to verify transactions without checking phones or screenshots. The system is particularly useful in areas with limited internet connectivity, ensuring faster and more reliable payments.
The devices are now available in 29 CARD Indogrosir branches, with 44 more stores set to adopt them before year-end, and plans to reach 200 stores by 2026.
“This partnership is about meeting users where they are and making payments work better for everyone,” said Jong Layug, group head of GCash for Business. “SoundPay brings speed, simplicity, and trust to everyday transactions.”
Frederick Torres, executive vice president of CARD Indogrosir, added, “Through our partnership with GCash and SoundPay, we are modernizing payments while empowering small entrepreneurs—especially sari-sari store owners—to grow and thrive.”
A joint venture between CARD MRI, the Philippines’ largest microfinance institution, and Indonesia’s Indogrosir under the Salim Group, CARD Indogrosir aims to support Filipino micro-retailers with access to wholesale pricing, logistics, and financial services. The rollout of SoundPay reinforces GCash’s mission to make digital finance more inclusive, secure, and accessible across the country.
