Ayala units collaboration trials frictionless banking authentication

Globe and the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) are testing a new security technology called Silent Network Authentication (SNA), which aims to make digital banking safer and easier. The Proof of Concept (POC) is part of Globe’s G Verify platform, which uses real-time network data and secure APIs to verify users without requiring one-time passwords (OTPs) or SMS codes.

The companies—both under the Ayala Group—are validating how SNA can confirm a user’s identity at the network level, reducing manual steps and limiting opportunities for fraud. The approach authenticates customers instantly and silently in the background, helping prevent scams linked to intercepted or stolen OTPs.

Globe and BPI have already completed technical testing, successfully linking BPI’s test app to Globe’s Network Exposure Platform for real-time verification. The project meets global GSMA and CAMARA standards and supports Globe’s broader Open Gateway program, which brings network capabilities to enterprise partners.

BPI says the initiative aligns with its goal of enhancing client protection through secure, frictionless digital experiences. Globe, meanwhile, is in talks with more banks and e-commerce platforms to expand the use of network-powered authentication.

Both companies say the effort supports the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ call for more advanced security measures as the Philippines transitions to a more digital economy.
