DOTr to build three new EDSA Busway stations starting 2026

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the construction of three new EDSA Busway stations will start in 2026 to improve the speed and accessibility of the bus system.

The new stations will be located in Cubao, Magallanes, and at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX). The project follows a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to make public transport more efficient and encourage more commuters to use it.

Transportation Undersecretary Mark Steven Pastor said the construction contracts were awarded this month. Work is set to begin in the first quarter of 2026 and is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of the same year.

Pastor said the new stations aim to reduce travel time along EDSA and make bus travel more convenient.

He also announced that the new EDSA Busway Kamuning Station will open in the first quarter of 2026. The station will have elevators and escalators to help persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and pregnant women. A new footbridge separate from MRT-3 is also being built in the area.

Meanwhile, the DOTr is planning a new busway linking España and Quezon Avenue. A feasibility study for the project is expected to be completed next year, with funding from the Asian Development Bank.

The EDSA Busway Project is a flagship program of the DOTr, with support from the DPWH and MMDA. It aims to improve the safety, efficiency, and accessibility of public transport along EDSA.
