PLDT Group is expanding its AI infrastructure and talent development to support digital transformation across the Philippines.
At the center of the initiative is VITRO Sta. Rosa (VSR) in Laguna, the country’s first hyperscale data center designed for AI workloads. Operated by PLDT’s data center arm VITRO Inc., VSR also hosts Pilipinas AI, the nation’s first homegrown AI solutions stack. This allows businesses and government agencies to use advanced AI tools without building their own infrastructure, keeping sensitive data secure within the country.
PLDT plans to deploy AI across banking, healthcare, government, utilities, and BPO sectors, aiming to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer service. “With our AI-ready ecosystem, we are helping Filipino businesses and communities harness AI to boost innovation and competitiveness,” said PLDT SVP Blums S. Pineda.
Through its wireless unit Smart Communications, PLDT is extending AI access to schools, NGOs, MSMEs, media groups, and local communities. The company’s AI-in-a-Box program, launched in 2025, delivers AI tools, connectivity, training, and support, already reaching local governments in Bicol and Bataan, as well as educational and business communities nationwide.
By building local AI infrastructure and talent, PLDT positions the Philippines as a hub for AI-driven industries, supporting digital growth, innovation, and competitiveness while keeping data sovereignty intact.
