Visa has partnered with GCash and makes it easier and safer to send money from abroad directly to GCash wallets in the Philippines. Through Visa Direct, individuals and businesses worldwide can now transfer funds straight to GCash, benefiting more than 90 million users with faster and more convenient access to overseas money.
Overseas Filipinos can also use foreign-issued Visa cards to add funds to their accounts through the GCash Overseas app. The move aims to simplify payments and improve access to financial services for Filipinos and visitors, wherever they are.
The Philippines is one of Asia Pacific’s leading users of digital remittances, according to Visa’s Money Travels: 2025 Digital Remittances Adoption Report. About 74 percent of Filipinos send money digitally, while 66 percent prefer to receive remittances through digital channels. Nearly half of respondents said digital remittances are safe and private.
GCash remains widely used, with eight in ten Filipinos having used the app. Digital remittances are popular across all age groups, including older users, with all respondents aged 65 and above planning to send money digitally.
GCash and Visa said the partnership supports their shared goal of making payments more secure, flexible, and accessible, while also supporting the government’s push for greater financial inclusion and a move toward a cash-lite economy.
