Non-government groups highlighted as key to regional peace at US-PH Society meeting

At the annual board meeting of the US-Philippines Society on Tuesday, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya underscored the growing role of non-government actors in promoting peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

Ambassador Endo joined Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel “Babe” Romualdez and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires ad interim to the Philippines Robert Ewing in a session focused on trilateral cooperation among the Philippines, the United States, and Japan, including the Luzon Economic Corridor initiative.

The speakers highlighted the strategic importance of closer cooperation among the three countries in areas such as economic development and security. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening trilateral ties to support stability and shared growth in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.

Ambassador Endo placed special emphasis on the role of non-government groups, including so-called “Track 1.5” initiatives that bring together government officials, experts, and private sector leaders. He noted that organizations like the US-Philippines Society help build trust, encourage dialogue, and advance practical cooperation outside formal government channels—contributing significantly to long-term peace and prosperity in the region.
