Hawaii event spotlights Philippines as rising digital hub

The debut of the Data Center Operators of the Philippines (DCPH) at the Pacific Telecommunications Council 2026 conference in Hawaii signaled the country’s push to become a leading digital destination in Southeast Asia.

The event brought together top executives from major data center firms, including VITRO Inc., ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Philippines), YCO Cloud, Digital Halo, Digital Edge Philippines, and A-FLOW. Philippine Deputy Consul General Pamela F. Durian-Bailon also attended, highlighting government support for the sector.

Industry leaders said demand for cloud services, hyperscale facilities, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence continues to grow. They noted that the Philippines is well positioned to meet this demand through stronger partnerships, improved infrastructure, and supportive government policies, including incentives from the Board of Investments.

DCPH was formed to unify the country’s data center industry and speed up infrastructure development. The group represents a combined 473 megawatts of IT power capacity. It aims to improve connectivity, promote renewable energy use, advocate competitive power rates, and push policies that support innovation, including data localization measures.

For the industry, the alliance signals greater coordination and scale, which could attract more global investors and technology companies to set up operations in the Philippines. For consumers and businesses, stronger digital infrastructure could mean faster internet services, more reliable cloud platforms, and better support for digital services powered by AI and other advanced technologies.

Organizers said the successful Hawaii debut positions the Philippines as a serious contender for digital investments in the region and invites global partners to participate in its next phase of growth.
