AI powers Globe’s push to connect every Filipino, CEO says

Carl Cruz, president and CEO of Globe Telecom, highlighted how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the company and expanding digital access in the Philippines during the Mobile World Congress 2026.

Speaking on The Great Indoors Podcast, Cruz said AI is helping Globe improve customer service, strengthen disaster response, and deliver more personalized digital experiences. These efforts are part of Globe’s shift from a traditional telecom provider to a broader digital lifestyle partner supporting education, healthcare, and livelihoods.

Cruz emphasized that connectivity remains key to national progress, especially in a country like the Philippines with over 7,600 islands. He said Globe’s partnership with Starlink aims to close the connectivity gap by using satellite technology to reach remote and underserved communities, covering the remaining 4% of the population without reliable access.

The company is also investing in AI-powered tools such as proactive network monitoring, self-service platforms, and the GlobeOne App, which allows users to manage accounts and access personalized offers.

On digital safety, Cruz noted Globe’s early move to block SMS messages containing links to reduce scams. Since 2021, the company has reportedly stopped more than 12 billion spam and scam messages from reaching users.

Cruz also underscored the importance of diversity and inclusion, calling it a core business strategy that helps Globe better serve the varied needs of Filipinos.

He reaffirmed Globe’s mission to promote a safer digital environment and drive inclusive growth through innovation, partnerships, and customer-focused services.
