Filipinos favor meaningful, budget travel in 2026

Filipino travelers are reshaping how they explore the world in 2026, prioritizing meaningful experiences and value-driven choices over trend-driven trips, according to the latest Travel Pulse study by Klook.

The survey, which polled 11,000 consumers worldwide including 500 Filipinos, shows a clear shift in travel behavior, particularly among Gen Z and Millennials. These groups are moving away from traditional sightseeing toward activities that better reflect their interests and budgets.

“We at Klook eagerly anticipate the results of the Travel Pulse survey every year, as it not only gives us an idea of what to expect from our users, but also insights on the why behind their travels,” said Michelle Ho. “These findings represent how travel is ever evolving.”

Budget remains the top priority for Filipino travelers, cited by 42 percent of respondents. This is followed by building memories with companions (34.2 percent) and seeking meaningful experiences (33.9 percent).

Notably, travelers are reallocating spending—splurging more on food and activities while cutting back on shopping.

Short- to medium-haul destinations are also gaining ground. Northeast Asia leads travel intent at 67 percent, followed by Southeast Asia at 30 percent. Nearby destinations such as Vietnam and Taiwan are seeing strong demand, with Klook reporting a 193 percent surge in bookings to Vietnam and 124 percent growth for Taiwan in 2025.

The study also underscores Filipinos’ strong preference for family-oriented travel, with respondents ranking highest globally in prioritizing shared experiences. Food trips, cultural tours, and local festivals top activity lists.

As global travel rebounds, the findings point to a more intentional Filipino traveler—one focused on connection, culture, and value.
