A major network upgrade by Smart Communications, Ericsson, and Meta is delivering significantly improved call quality for millions of Messenger users across the Philippines.
The large-scale collaboration has sharply reduced call delays and disruptions, resulting in clearer voice, smoother video, and more reliable connections nationwide. The improvements come after Smart and Ericsson optimized key technical settings in Smart’s live network, particularly in Luzon.
Performance gains have been substantial: call delays dropped by 24.6 percent, interruptions were cut by 55 percent and video quality improved by nearly 20 percent. These upgrades are already enhancing real-time conversations, making everyday communication more seamless for users.
The impact extends beyond Messenger, with other calling apps also benefiting from the improved network performance.
Smart said the initiative strengthens its commitment to delivering high-quality service, while Ericsson emphasized the role of global expertise and close collaboration in achieving real-world results.
The effort also supports the broader goal of PLDT to raise connectivity standards and improve digital experiences for Filipinos nationwide.
