ICTSI earmarks USD740M capex to expand global terminals

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) is ramping up investments in 2026, setting aside USD740 million in capital expenditures as it builds on record financial results and sustained global demand for port services.

Speaking at Thursday’s stockholders’ meeting, ICTSI Chairman Enrique K. Razon Jr. said the planned capex marks an increase from the USD650.44 million spent in 2025, signaling confidence in long-term trade flows despite ongoing global volatility.

The bulk of the 2026 budget will fund major expansion projects, including Phase 3B and the upcoming Phase 4 of Contecon Manzanillo (CMSA) in Mexico.

Capacity upgrades are also planned for key domestic assets such as the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT), Manila NorthPort, and the South Luzon Container Terminal (SLCT).

Razon said international operations will likewise benefit from expansion works across Brazil, Australia, Ecuador, and Central America, reflecting ICTSI’s strategy of balancing a strong Philippine base with diversified global exposure.

The investment push follows a robust 2025 performance.

Consolidated throughput rose 11 percent to 14.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), while gross revenues climbed 18 percent to USD3.23 billion, driven by higher volumes, tariff adjustments, and ancillary services.

Profitability remained strong, with EBITDA increasing 21 percent to USD2.14 billion and margins improving to 66 percent, underscoring operational efficiency despite rising costs.

Net income attributable to equity holders surged 23 percent to USD1.05 billion, while earnings per share grew 25 percent, sustaining ICTSI’s earnings momentum.

The strong results also lifted the company’s market capitalization beyond P1 trillion, making it the most valuable listed firm on the Philippine Stock Exchange.

Capex in 2025, excluding capitalized borrowing costs, amounted to USD650.44 million, mainly used for ongoing expansion works.
