The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System–Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) has imposed a ₱54.28 million penalty on Maynilad Water Services, Inc. over service issues.
In a statement Monday, MWSS-RO said the penalty will be returned to customers as rebates starting May 2026. Around 165,518 affected customers will receive about ₱327.96 each.
The rebates will only apply to customers who experienced water interruptions in March 2026 in areas served by the Putatan Water Treatment Plant and Poblacion Water Treatment Plant.
These include parts of Las Piñas City, Muntinlupa City, Parañaque City, Imus City, and Bacoor City.
MWSS-RO said Maynilad failed to meet its obligation to provide continuous 24-hour water supply with the required minimum pressure.
This is the second penalty issued for the same issue. Earlier, MWSS-RO fined Maynilad ₱42.56 million, which was given as ₱439.92 rebates to over 98,000 customers in April 2026.
Maynilad is the country’s largest private water concessionaire, serving multiple cities in Metro Manila and Cavite.
