Part-time, tech jobs surge as demand holds

Job demand in the Philippines has remained broadly stable over the past year, even as part-time work and specialized technology roles gain ground, according to Jobstreet by SEEK.

Data from the platform for the first quarter of 2026 showed customer-facing and back-office roles continuing to dominate listings.

Call center and customer service positions made up 13.9 percent of postings, followed by accounting (12.5 percent) and information and communication technology (12.4 percent).

Rounding out the top categories were administration and office support (11.8 percent), manufacturing, transport and logistics (10.7 percent), sales (10.3 percent), engineering (6.5 percent), retail and consumer products (6.3 percent), marketing and communications (5.6 percent), and human resources and recruitment (5.3 percent).

While the overall mix of roles has stayed largely consistent, employers are increasingly turning to flexible hiring arrangements.

Jobstreet reported a 35 percent year-on-year jump in part-time postings, with more than 4,000 new roles added. The growth reflects companies’ efforts to widen their talent pools while adapting to hybrid and remote work setups.

At the same time, demand for specialized tech talent is accelerating. Roles such as AI engineers and data analysts are becoming more prominent as firms deepen their use of artificial intelligence.

This shift is also driving the emergence of so-called “human-in-the-loop” jobs—positions focused on supervising and refining automated systems.

“The future of work in the Philippines is anchored on trust, augmentation, and continuous upskilling,” said Dannah Majarocon, managing director of Jobstreet by SEEK Philippines.

In line with evolving workforce needs, the platform said it has partnered with the Department of Labor and Employment for the 124th Labor Day Job Fair beginning May 1.

The nationwide event is expected to offer more than 115,000 job opportunities across 88 sites.
