Motorists will see mixed fuel price changes this week, with gasoline and diesel prices going up slightly, while kerosene continues to get cheaper.
The Department of Energy (DOE) said fuel companies will raise gasoline prices by about P2.21 per liter and diesel by P2.26 per liter. Meanwhile, kerosene prices will drop by around P3.53 per liter.
Fuel firms like Seaoil and Jetti Petroleum have confirmed they will apply the changes starting Tuesday morning.
Despite this week’s increase, diesel prices had dropped for three straight weeks before this, with total cuts reaching over P60 per liter. Gasoline prices also went up last week but still show a net decrease of about P7.84 per liter since mid-April.
Kerosene, on the other hand, has steadily declined, with total reductions reaching P32.74 per liter over the past four weeks.
As of early May, fuel prices in Metro Manila average:
Gasoline (RON 91): P71 per liter
Diesel: P86.90 per liter
Kerosene: P131.10 per liter.
The DOE also reported that the country’s fuel supply remains stable, with enough stock to last about 53.7 days, slightly lower than the previous week.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said the government is still considering buying fuel directly from other countries to boost reserves, but this is not necessary for now due to adequate supply and limited storage capacity.
