The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Thursday said that the Port of Lucena will soon open its newly expanded Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) aimed at improving comfort, convenience, and efficiency for passengers and tourists.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the modern terminal has a 1,000-seat capacity, allowing it to accommodate more local and foreign travelers. He added that the project is expected to help boost tourism not only in Quezon province but also in nearby areas.
“The directive of the President is that our ports should be modernized and passenger-friendly. An example of the President’s order is this Port of Lucena and we will do the same in other ports throughout the country,” Lopez said.
The upgraded terminal will also feature automated ticketing counters to speed up passenger transactions and solar panels to support sustainable operations, Santiago said.
“Once operational, this PTB will eliminate overcrowding,” Santiago said, noting that travel to neighboring provinces will become smoother and more convenient for passengers.
