Thousands of Lalamove partner drivers in Metro Manila have started receiving ₱5,000 each in government financial aid as part of a massive, three-day distribution drive led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The special payout, which began on May 19 at The Tent in Las Piñas City, successfully handed out cash relief to over 6,000 drivers on its first day. The initiative aims to reach more than 30,000 eligible drivers by May 21, totaling an estimated ₱150 million in government assistance.
This initiative provides critical, targeted relief for transport sector workers, specifically focusing on Transport Network Company (TNC) drivers who missed out on previous government financial assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.
The rollout also highlights a successful model for public-private synergy. While the DSWD funds and manages the official cash distribution, Lalamove handles the logistical heavy lifting by managing driver communications, verifying data, and funding onsite support to ensure the process runs smoothly.
Furthermore, the impact of the event extends beyond the immediate cash relief. The distribution site has been transformed into a one-stop-shop where drivers can also access essential services from Pag-IBIG, GCash, and Hyundai.
To prevent chaotic crowds, Lalamove and DSWD began aligning driver data and scheduling back in March. Drivers are notified of their specific appointment times via the Lalamove app, SMS, and official social media channels.
At the venue, Lalamove has deployed help desks, queue marshals, and complimentary refreshments. The company has also partnered with local police, traffic enforcers, and medical teams to maintain safety and order.
This payout follows similar DSWD distributions tailored for other ride-hailing and delivery platforms. Lalamove drivers who missed their designated schedules are advised to visit the onsite help desk or check their driver app for updates. Additionally, Lalamove confirmed it is currently working with the DSWD to finalize cash relief distribution schedules for partner drivers located outside Metro Manila.
