Meralco Power Academy (MPA), the education arm of power distributor Meralco, has signed separate partnership agreements with Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) and De La Salle University (DLSU) to bridge academic learning and industry needs.
With NEUST, MPA and affiliate MGEN Renewables entered a tripartite deal to create a steady stream of skilled workers for large-scale renewable energy projects—including the planned MTerra Solar facility in Nueva Ecija, set to be the world’s biggest integrated solar and battery storage site. The collaboration covers curriculum updates, hands-on training, research, and internships under MPA’s PowerCamp program. Officials noted the partnership supports national workforce development and matches education with the fast-growing clean energy sector.
With DLSU, the agreement focuses on elevating the university’s Electrical Engineering program. Activities include industry internships, faculty exposure, expert lectures, and joint research. The goal is to equip future engineers to help improve power system reliability, sustainability, and innovation across the Philippines.
These linkages directly support the country’s energy transition and infrastructure goals by ensuring a talent pipeline for renewable energy and power system development. They also expand industry-academe cooperation beyond Metro Manila, aligning education with real-world demand and strengthening the long-term resilience of the Philippine energy sector.
