Wind projects power P340B Green Lane surge

The Philippines’ renewable energy drive gathered fresh momentum in the first four months of 2026, with wind power projects dominating investments approved under the government’s Green Lane initiative.

Data from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) showed that the Board of Investments (BOI) certified 14 projects worth P340.07 billion under the Green Lane program from January to April, with renewable energy accounting for nearly all of the investment pipeline.

Renewable energy projects represented 85.71 percent of total certifications during the period, attracting P339.09 billion in investments and generating a projected 37,726 jobs out of the 37,828 jobs expected from all approved projects.

Leading the list are several large-scale wind developments that collectively account for more than P220 billion in investments and over 30,000 jobs.

Among the biggest projects is the Pangasinan Wind Farm, which carries an investment value of P52.31 billion and is expected to create 10,560 jobs. The Samar Wind Farm and Nueva Ecija Wind Farm, each worth P43.59 billion, are projected to generate 8,800 jobs apiece.

The Bulalacao Bay Offshore Wind Project emerged as the largest single investment in the batch, with P88.32 billion in committed capital and an estimated 2,200 jobs.

Other renewable energy ventures certified under the Green Lane include wind projects of San Jose Onshore Wind Power Corp., Ilosong Wind Corp., Energia Pulita Energy Corp., and Sembrano Wind Power Corp., as well as a floating solar facility by 5Hour Peak Energy Corp. and hydropower developments of Alsons Energy Development Corp. and Oriental Energy and Power Generation Corp.

Trade Secretary and BOI Chair

Ma. Cristina Roque said the approvals underscore growing investor confidence in the Philippines and highlight the Green Lane’s role in accelerating strategic investments.

Since its launch in 2023, the initiative has certified 237 projects worth P6.32 trillion, with renewable energy accounting for P5.42 trillion and an estimated 272,583 jobs.
