Petron’s Bataan terminal expansion set for public scoping

The DENR-EMB will hold a public scoping on June 17, 2026, for Petron’s proposed expansion of its fuel terminal in Limay, Bataan.

The plan aims to raise white fuel storage capacity by 45 percent — from 20,746 kiloliters to 32,785 kiloliters — without expanding the terminal’s 60,000 sq.m land area. No project cost was disclosed.

Key reasons include growing demand for Jet A-1 aviation fuel, which currently leaves only 3.4 days of supply — below safe levels. The expansion will add tanks for aviation fuel, diesel, gasoline, and coconut methyl ester (CME) biodiesel, plus auxiliary tanks. These will also serve as backup during inspections or repairs.

Construction is targeted to start Q1 2027 and finish Q1 2028. The project aims to secure supply, meet energy and biofuel rules, and support local economic activity.
