Swiss dental giant expands Batangas facility

The Philippines is strengthening its credentials as a hub for high-value manufacturing after Swiss dental technology firm Ivoclar Vivadent expanded its local operations with a new production facility in Batangas, signaling continued foreign investor confidence in the country’s skilled workforce and industrial base.

The company recently unveiled its new “Plant of Dreams” in Lipa City, Batangas, a facility designed to support the production of advanced dental materials and technologies for global markets.

The site was showcased during a visit by Nicolas Brühl and Economic and Trade Advisor Candy Japlos, who were welcomed by Ivoclar Philippines President Daniela San Agustin and the company’s leadership team.

More than a manufacturing expansion, the facility reflects the growing sophistication of Philippine-based production operations. Company officials described the plant as a showcase of advanced manufacturing, innovation, quality assurance, and workforce development—areas increasingly critical as multinational firms diversify supply chains and move toward higher-value production.

Headquartered in Schaan, Ivoclar Vivadent is among the world’s leading providers of integrated solutions for dentists and dental laboratories. Founded in 1923, the family-owned firm supplies restorative materials, digital technologies, and dental equipment to roughly 130 countries. Its global manufacturing network spans Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, the United States, and the Philippines, with a workforce of about 3,700 employees.

For the Philippines, the investment highlights an often-overlooked strength: the country’s ability to host specialized manufacturing beyond traditional electronics and consumer goods. Ivoclar has operated locally for more than 30 years, serving both export and domestic markets while investing in employee training and sustainability programs.

The expansion in Batangas suggests that as competition for foreign direct investment intensifies across Southeast Asia, the Philippines remains capable of attracting niche, technology-driven manufacturers seeking skilled talent and long-term operational stability.
