General Santos International Airport resumes commercial flights June 15

Commercial flights at General Santos International Airport will resume tomorrow, June 15, 2026, following quick repairs done after the strong earthquake that struck the area on June 8, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced.

The fast-tracked restoration work came after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered authorities to immediately fix the airport, aiming to ensure passenger safety, comfort, and uninterrupted travel.

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez had earlier pledged that operations would restart within a week after the quake, a timeline the agency has now met.

“The DOTr and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) completed a full safety check. We confirmed the airport is safe to use, so flights can resume tomorrow to avoid further delays for travelers,” Lopez said.

CAAP also held coordination meetings with airlines, airport partners, and government agencies to guarantee smooth and safe operations moving forward.

Passengers are reminded to check directly with their respective airlines for updated flight schedules and travel details.
