NBI clearance renewals go digits via eGovPH app

Filipinos can now renew their National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearances entirely online through the eGovPH Super App, marking another step in the government’s push to digitize public services and reduce the time spent on routine transactions.

The new NBI eClearance service, launched by the Department of Information and Communications Technology and the National Bureau of Investigation, enables verified eGovPH Super App users to renew their NBI clearances, access digital copies of their renewed documents, and retrieve their most recently issued clearance directly from the mobile platform.

The service was formally launched on July 6 in Pasay City in support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to make government services faster, simpler, and more accessible through digital transformation.

The launch was led by Louise Araneta-Marcos, together with DICT Secretary Henry Aguda, NBI Director Melvin Matibag, DICT Undersecretary David Almirol Jr., and NBI Deputy Director Antonio Pagatpat.

For millions of Filipinos, the NBI clearance is a staple requirement for employment applications, business transactions, travel, and other official purposes. Moving renewals online eliminates another reason to queue at government offices, reflecting the administration’s broader effort to shift high-volume public services to digital channels.

The rollout also expands the capabilities of the eGovPH Super App, which is being positioned as the government’s one-stop digital platform for accessing public services.

As more agencies integrate their systems into the application, the government hopes to replace paper-based processes with faster, more convenient digital transactions.

While first-time applicants will still need to comply with identity verification requirements, the online renewal service signals how digitalization is gradually reshaping government service delivery—turning what was once a day spent in line into a process that can now be completed with a few taps on a smartphone.
