Reaffirming government’s commitment to work closely with private schools, Education Secretary Sonny Angara and National Capital Region Assistant Secretary and Regional Director Dr. Jocelyn Andaya visited Sproutville International School in Bonifacio Global City to help raise and maintain the quality of basic education.
The visit formed part of DepEd’s continuing engagement with private educational institutions as the agency pushes for higher learning standards, stronger school safety measures, and improved learning outcomes under the Marcos administration.
The school visit also gave DepEd officials the opportunity to observe Sproutville’s academic programs, Montessori learning environment, and emergency preparedness during a community-wide earthquake and fire drill.
School officials welcomed Angara on a campus tour that showcased Sproutville’s classrooms, innovation laboratories, learning resource centers, and student support facilities. The officials also met with teachers and administrators to discuss the school’s approach to early childhood education and how its programs complement national education standards.
During the visit, DepEd officials commended the dedication of teachers and staff in providing a nurturing, child-centered learning environment. They also observed how the school integrates Montessori principles that encourage independence, creativity, critical thinking, and holistic child development.
The school highlighted its purpose-built learning spaces, complete Montessori materials, and custom-designed classroom furniture developed to provide young learners with a safe, comfortable and engaging environment.
Coinciding with the visit was the Synchronized Earthquake and Fire Drill led by the BGC Community Safety Task Force. Although scheduled independently from the official program, the exercise allowed visiting officials to witness the school’s emergency response procedures firsthand.
Teachers and staff guided students through an orderly evacuation while implementing established safety protocols. The exercise reflected the growing emphasis of both public and private schools on disaster preparedness, following DepEd’s continuing efforts to strengthen campus safety through regular emergency drills and risk reduction programs.
The visit concluded with the presentation of commemorative tokens and a renewed commitment by both DepEd and Sproutville International School to promote quality, inclusive, innovative and future-ready education for Filipino learners.
