AirAsia Philippines has kept its rank as the world’s most on-time low-cost airline for July, according to the latest report from global aviation data firm OAG. The carrier recorded an on-time performance rate of 94.42 percent, placing first among 46 monitored low-cost airlines worldwide. It also took second place in OAG’s All Airlines category for carriers running over 1,500 flights that month, outperforming many full-service airlines alongside its budget peers.
This result builds on the airline’s June standing, when it posted a 92.96 percent on-time rate to rank fourth globally, showing steady gains in operational efficiency. The latest figure also marks a clear rise from the 87.1 percent recorded in May, achieved even with weather-related difficulties throughout July.
AirAsia Philippines president and chief executive officer Anna Victoria Lu said careful fleet adjustments and smoother processes have driven better timeliness despite ongoing industry pressures. “Global geopolitical tensions and high fuel costs have forced tough choices and operational changes, but our fleet optimization work is now delivering real results,” Lu stated. “This lets us plan flights, manage fuel use and keep to assigned schedules in close coordination with air traffic control. These steps reduce delays while keeping operations safe, dependable and efficient across all our routes.”
The airline noted it has strengthened coordination with air traffic management and airport authorities, and shares timely travel updates with passengers to cut disruptions. Lu added that consistent punctuality demands ongoing improvements amid shifting conditions. “We know our passengers count on us for safe, affordable and reliable flights, so we keep working to meet that standard. This achievement shows that low fares never mean lower reliability,” she said.
