Alsons Power Group is pushing deeper into the Visayas, winning Japanese-affiliated manufacturer Makoto Metal Technology Inc. (MMTI) as a retail electricity customer for its two plants in Cebu.
The deal, signed through Alsons Power Supply Corp. (APSC), strengthens the group’s drive to expand beyond its Mindanao base and tap Cebu’s growing pool of manufacturing and other large commercial power users.
Financial details of the deal weren’t immediately disclosed.
MMTI operates two manufacturing plants at the Mactan Export Processing Zone II in Lapu-Lapu City, giving APSC a foothold in one of the Visayas’ key industrial hubs.
The agreement also expands APSC’s customer base to nine contestable accounts under the Retail Competition and Open Access framework, which allows qualified large electricity users to choose their power suppliers.
“Cebu is an important market for us, particularly with its strong base of manufacturing and commercial customers,” Alsons Power Chief Executive Officer Antonio Miguel B. Alcantara said.
“Partnering with MMTI is an important step in expanding Alsons Power’s presence in the Visayas and bringing our energy solutions to more businesses across the country,” he added.
