GAC Philippines is stepping up its hybrid push with the launch of the E8 HEV, a seven-seater multipurpose vehicle priced from P1.86 million, as demand for more fuel-efficient vehicles gains traction in the local market.
The self-charging hybrid expands GAC’s MPV lineup, slotting between the GN6 powered by an internal combustion engine and the GN8 PHEV Executive.
The E8 combines a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle hybrid engine with an electric motor, producing 182 PS and 300 Newton-meters of electric motor torque through a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission.
GAC claims fuel consumption of 5.58 liters per 100 kilometers. With a 60-liter fuel tank, the E8 can travel more than 1,000 kilometers on a full tank without requiring external charging, addressing one of the practical hurdles for consumers considering electrified vehicles.
The E8 comes in GL and GX variants priced at P1.858 million and P1.998 million, respectively.
For buyers who reserve until Sept. 30, introductory pricing cuts both variants by P80,000 to P1.778 million for the GL and P1.918 million for the GX.
The three-row MPV offers 18 seating configurations, while cargo capacity expands from 345 liters to 1,917 liters with the third row folded.
The higher-spec GX adds zero-gravity captain’s seats with ventilation, massage functions, and power leg rests, positioning the model at the more premium end of the family MPV market.
The launch adds another electrified option to GAC Philippines’ growing portfolio as automakers compete for consumers seeking lower fuel consumption without the charging requirements of a full electric vehicle.
GAC Philippines now operates 30 dealerships nationwide. Its hybrid and plug-in hybrid models come with a five-year or 150,000-kilometer basic warranty and an eight-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty covering key electrified powertrain components.
