Movem, Filinvest Malls expand EV charging network

Movem Electric Inc. (Movem), the wholly owned electric mobility solutions provider of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), has partnered with Filinvest Malls to expand electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at Festival Mall in Muntinlupa City.

The facility, located at the Alabang-Zapote parking area of Festival Mall, combines EV charging infrastructure with a digital advertising platform, giving EV users access to charging while creating an additional channel for brands to reach mall customers.

The partnership comes as property developers and retail operators prepare for wider EV adoption by integrating charging facilities into commercial and mixed-use developments.

The Festival Mall installation is also intended to make charging more accessible by placing it within a destination where customers already spend time for shopping and other daily activities.

The charging facility is supported by ChargeM, Movem’s mobile application that allows EV users to access its chargers and manage charging sessions.

Movem President and CEO Ralph Menchavez said integrating charging into everyday destinations could help make electric mobility more practical for users.

“At Movem, we believe EV charging should fit naturally into people’s daily routines,” Menchavez said.

He said the Festival Mall partnership brings charging closer to places where people live, work, and spend their time, while the ChargeM app complements the physical infrastructure with a digital experience.

Beyond Festival Mall, Movem will support Filinvest’s broader EV requirements across its portfolio, including commercial, residential, and office developments.

The broader collaboration reflects an emerging role for property developers in building out the country’s EV ecosystem, as the availability and convenience of charging infrastructure become increasingly important to potential EV users.

For Filinvest, incorporating charging facilities across different property types could also help prepare its developments for changing mobility patterns and growing demand for cleaner transportation.

The companies said the partnership is intended to contribute to more EV-ready communities by integrating charging infrastructure into existing property and retail environments.
