Globe hits 2026 best network marks in DICT’s August report card

Globe Telecom Inc. turned in its strongest network performance of the year this past August, earning its highest overall rating and fastest average download speed in the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Telco Report Card. The Ayala-led firm posted an overall score of 81.5, up 4.4 points from January, while average download speed reached a 2026 peak of 45.9 Mbps. That figure is 5.1 percent faster than July and 26 percent higher than the 36.5 Mbps recorded at the start of the year. Network quality also rose to 71.2 from 69.2, with latency holding steady at 20 milliseconds.

These gains follow sustained spending by Globe and close coordination between telcos and government bodies including the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to lift connectivity and service reliability nationwide. “Customers need a network they can depend on every day, and that goes beyond speed. It means being able to stay connected consistently, including during periods of high demand, disruptions and emergencies,” said Globe General Counsel Atty. Froilan Castelo. “The progress we are seeing shows that our investments are making a difference, but there are still communities where the experience needs to be better. That is where we need to keep pushing.”

Globe poured P26.3 billion into capital expenditures in the first half of 2026, with 91 percent directed to data-related projects for network upgrades and expansion. It has also been named the Most Consistent Mobile Provider for four straight periods based on Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data from the second half of 2024 through the first half of 2026. Beyond speed and reach, the company is building greater service resilience through Automated Outage Response technology, which preserves up to 50 percent of data connectivity during outages compared with less than 10 percent without the system, by automatically adjusting nearby cell sites to maintain links.

Globe is also bringing service to geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs). In July alone, it activated mobile connectivity in 52 previously unserved communities, fulfilling its pledge to cover all 180 sites under the DICT connectivity program. The company said these network upgrades form part of a wider drive to deliver steady, reliable service especially to areas that have long faced barriers to access.
