Analysts see sustained long-term growth for Mynth ahead of stock market debut

FINANCIAL ANALYSTS EXPECT Mynt Inc., the parent company of dominant e-wallet operator GCash, to maintain a steady upward trajectory following its upcoming debut on the Philippine Stock Exchange, though its performance may resemble the measured pace of a mature corporate giant rather than a high-speed startup.

Mynt is set to list on Tuesday after raising gross proceeds from an initial public offering that priced 9.23 billion primary and secondary shares at P6.60 each, establishing a market valuation of approximately P441.5 billion. The company will receive about P10.6 billion from the primary share portion to finance its next phase of expansion.

Market experts view the strong demand for the offering as a sign of solid core business fundamentals and operational efficiency. Eric Jurado, hedge fund manager at SeA Focus Portfolio, noted that Mynt possesses structural advantages capable of driving long-term earnings growth, including a massive customer base, an expanding lineup of financial products, and significant operational scale. He highlighted that GCash has firmly embedded itself into the daily lives of Filipinos, meaning long-term shareholders stand to benefit if the company continues to execute its strategy and manage operational risks effectively.

With GCash already installed on the smartphones of a vast majority of adult Filipinos, investment banker Stephen Cuunjieng observed that the company has largely saturated the domestic market. Consequently, Mynt’s primary growth driver going forward will shift from acquiring new users to increasing the average revenue generated per user. Cuunjieng emphasized that while price movements may be gradual, patient investors are likely to see positive results given the firm’s lean operations and massive market presence.

Beyond financial returns, market observers point to Mynt’s broader role in the national economy and sustainability landscape. Jonathan Ravelas, senior adviser at Reyes Tacandong and Co., emphasized that the company serves as an emerging pillar for environmental, social, and governance standards by bringing millions of unbanked citizens into the formal financial system. GCash has also expanded its ESG focus through partnerships with international institutions like the International Finance Corp. and Ant International to help local small businesses track sustainability metrics, demonstrating how financial technology can combine commercial success with broader economic development.
