The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) forecasts around 1.89 million passengers passing through its facilities from October 25 to November 4 this year, as Filipinos travel home for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
The 11-day figure reflects a 10 percent downward adjustment from the original forecast, or about 210,100 passengers, factoring in the possibility that some travelers may reschedule trips to coincide with the upcoming ASEAN Summit break in November. Even with the revision, passenger volume is expected to remain high, peaking at roughly 200,000 on Friday, October 30. Significant traffic is also projected for October 29 and 30 as people head to the provinces ahead of the November 1 and 2 observances.
“Undas is traditionally one of our busiest travel periods, and our preparations go beyond managing the expected number of passengers. We are working closely with our partner government agencies and bus operators to anticipate demand, address possible operational challenges, and ensure that passengers have access to safe and reliable transportation throughout the holiday period,” said Jason Salvador, PITX Corporate Affairs and Government Relations Director.
As one of the country’s key transport hubs, the terminal is stepping up preparations to serve the projected volume smoothly. PITX is coordinating closely with the Department of Transportation, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, the Land Transportation Office, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, the Philippine National Police, and other agencies to keep operations safe and orderly. Bus operators are monitoring bookings and high-demand routes to determine if extra trips are needed, subject to LTFRB approval. Additional staff may also be deployed to assist with queues, ticketing, boarding, security, and baggage checks, while plans are being readied for traffic management and emergency response around the terminal, especially on peak days.
