San Miguel Corp. has reaffirmed its commitment to complete the new passenger terminal building at Godofredo P. Ramos Airport in Caticlan by the second quarter of 2027, Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez announced Monday during the EJAP Infrastructure Forum 2026.
Construction on the facility began last year, with the firm standing by its timeline to deliver the project on schedule. The expansion carries important policy weight as a public-private partnership under the government’s build-rehabilitate-operate-transfer framework, showing how private sector participation can boost critical aviation infrastructure nationwide.
Spanning roughly 36,000 square meters, the modern terminal will raise annual capacity to seven million passengers, bringing cleaner, more comfortable spaces and better travel experiences to the millions heading to and from Boracay Island.
San Miguel is carrying out the upgrade through Trans Aire Development Holdings Corp., under a 25-year concession with the Department of Transportation and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines. The agreement grants the firm full responsibility for financing, designing, building, operating, and maintaining the airport—part of a broader portfolio that includes operations at NAIA, the upcoming Bulacan International Airport, major Luzon expressways, and the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 project.
