The Philippine Airlines (PAL) said it will resume regular flights to and from Cotabato City beginning 1 October following the completion of repair works on the runway at Cotabato’s Awang Airport.
The flag carrier said it will serve the Manila to Cotobato and vise versa; Cebu to Cotobato and vise versa and the Cotatabo to Tawi-Tawi and vise versa routes starting also from the same date this year.
“We welcome the reopening of Cotabato’s Awang Airport for full operations by larger aircraft,” Rabbi Vincent Ang, president of PAL Express said.
“We look forward to serving the people of Cotabato and passengers traveling to and within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with our flights from Manila, Cebu and Tawi-Tawi, and congratulate the aviation authorities and the BARMM government for the efforts to upgrade infrastructure in the interests of safety and efficiency,” he added.
The airport recently completed upgraded works but reopened only to military aircraft until the PAL decision to serve the destination that geographically belongs to Region XII and the BARMM.
The place is best know for its T’nalak festival observed each July in Koronadal, South Cotabato.
