August 16, 2026 — Proscenium Theater — The Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY) brought together melody, creativity, and a shared vision for tomorrow in Music for a Regenerative Future, an evening that blended world-class performance with a powerful message of care for the planet and belief in the next generation.
Led by Music Director and Conductor Gerard Salonga, the orchestra guided the audience through a thoughtfully curated program centered on nature, reflection, and renewal—crafting an experience that was both artistically rich and deeply meaningful.
The concert opened with Antonino Buenaventura’s By the Hillside, grounding the evening in local musical heritage before moving to Takashi Yoshimatsu’s And Birds are Still…, a piece that paints a vivid soundscape of nature’s enduring presence. Young Filipino pianist Daniel Asis then joined the ensemble for George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, infusing the beloved work with fresh, youthful energy and a distinctive interpretation that captivated listeners.
The performance concluded with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, the “Pastorale”—a fitting, stirring finale that circled back to the evening’s core theme: humanity’s deep connection to the natural world, and our shared duty to protect and nurture it for generations to come.
Hosted in celebration of First Philippine Holdings’ 65th Anniversary, the event aligned with the organization’s longstanding commitment to building a regenerative future—turning the concert into more than just a cultural highlight, but a meeting of art, purpose, and environmental stewardship.
The success of the night owed much to the generosity of partners, donors, and every audience member who purchased a ticket to support Ang ‘Misyon’. Each seat filled and every contribution directly helps expand opportunities for young Filipino musicians to learn, grow, and share their gifts with the world.
