    First Gen secures third LNG tender

    First Gen Corp. has awarded Total Energies Gas and Power Asia Private Ltd. (TEGPA) a contract to supply one liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo of approximately 154,500 cubic meters for delivery in early February next year.

    In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, First Gen said the cargo provided by TEGPA will also be unloaded at the BW Batangas floating storage and regasification facility in Batangas City.

    First Gen said the LNG is for the company’s gas-fired power plants.

    Also, the tender is the third such shipment following contracts signed with Shell Eastern LNG and with Trafigura earlier this year.

    First Gen has a portfolio of four gas-fired power plants with combined capacity of 2,017 megawatts (MW) supplied for many years with gas from Malampaya.

    Subsidiary firm FGEN LNG Corp. has constructed an interim offshore LNG terminal for the purpose.

    First Gen as power generation company has a combined capacity of 3,500 MW from a portfolio using natural gas, geothermal, hydroelectric, wind and solar power technologies.

    First Gen plans to spend as much as $20 billion until 2030 to boost capacity to 9,640 MW and achieve total portfolio of 13,000 MW by that time.
