Prime Infra partners with Ayala Group processing wastes in Cebu

Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc. subsidiary Prime Integrated Waste Solutions (PWS) has partnered with Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) and its real estate investment trust AREIT Inc. to process waste at an advanced resource recovery facility in Cebu City.

Since May this year, the waste generated by office buildings owned by AREIT have been brought to the facility in barangay Binaliw, Cebu City for processing.

The PWS employs state-of-the-art equipment using a sustainable waste management process focused on resource recovery.

The facility maximizes resource recovery to limit landfill use and ensures that up to 90 percent of every ton of waste received is reused for waste value creation activities, including the production of refuse derived fuel and resale.

“The municipal solid waste and industrial waste in the country is really a crisis — a very significant crisis, social and environmental, among others. The release of methane has had tremendous impact on climate and thus, Prime Waste Solutions and Prime Infra are making efforts to industrialize waste management at the national level,” said Guillaume Lucci, Prime Infra president and chief executive officer, in a statement.

Carol Mills, Ayala Land Offices group head, said the partnership will not only mitigate Ayala’s environmental footprint but also set new benchmarks by adopting a circular economy in their office development programs to benefit future generations.

Ayala Land and AREIT are set to expand their partnership with Prime Infra and PWS to their other commercial properties.

Other than Cebu, PWS operates another MRF in Porac, Pampanga capable of handling up to 5,000 tons of waste per day.
